VIDEO RELEASE: Coast Guard, partner agencies medevac woman from Kinston, NC

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a woman Thursday from flooded Kinston to Greenville for medical treatment.

Air Station Elizabeth City watchstanders received a request at approximately 10:30 a.m. to medevac an unconscious woman from Southwood Elementary in Kinston after a power outage impacted local hospitals. The woman was a patient being treated by a Mobile Disaster Hospital with the North Carolina State Emergency Medical Response System.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 11 a.m. Partner agencies Lenoir County, Novant Health and Southwood Fire Department personnel and EMS assisted U.S. Coast Guard personnel in the transfer. The helicopter crew arrived at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville at approximately 11:40 a.m. and transferred the woman to hospital personnel. 

"During this time we’re glad to work hand-in-hand with our partner agencies,” said Lt. j.g. Rebekah Haba, pilot for the case. “The Coast Guard is standing watch to provide additional resources to our emergency response partners."
